Best flats for wide feet — a KL fit guide.

A practical note for the woman whose foot doesn't fit the standard last. What to look for, how to size, and which SHAN styles give wider feet room to breathe.

01

Wide feet are common. The wrong shoe isn't the answer.

Roughly one in three women wears a foot wider than the standard last most European shoes are built on. In Kuala Lumpur's heat, feet also swell across the day — the pair that fit at 9am can pinch by 3pm. A good flat should accommodate that shift, not fight it.

02

What to look for in a wide-friendly flat

Start with a rounded or almond toe box, not a hard point — pointed toes concentrate pressure across the ball of the foot. Look for a soft, unlined vamp that gives with pressure instead of digging in. And check that the leather is genuinely pliable within a few wears; stiff uppers never soften into your shape, they just stretch out of it.

03

Why microfiber leather helps

SHAN's uppers are made from premium microfiber leather, which is softer to break in than traditional hide and holds its shape without hardening. For wider feet, that means the shoe conforms around the foot instead of pressing against it — and it stays breathable through KL humidity, so nothing swells against a rigid last.

04

Sizing: when to go up, when to stay

Our line runs true to EU sizing. If your foot is on the wider side of standard, stay in your usual size — the vamp will settle. If you sit between two sizes, size up on closed-toe flats and pumps, and stay true on mules or open-back styles. Wearing a half-size insole can also fine-tune the fit on the longer end.

05

Which SHAN styles suit wider feet best

Our almond-toe flats and unlined loafers are the easiest starting point — soft vamps, rounded lasts, and cushioned insoles that support without crowding. Pointed pumps in the edit run slimmer; if you're new to the fit, begin with a flat and add a heeled style once you know how the leather settles on your foot.
